Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Mon May 18, 2026 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Orientation Leaders & Bottle Returns
1. Homework Review
· Brainstorm at least ONE G, PG, or PG-13 Movie (approx. 1.5 hrs in length)Lots of good suggestions for movie: Space Jam, Mean Girls, Into the Spiderverse, Happy Gilmore 2, Grease, Wreck It Ralph, Toy Story, The Mask.
Winning Movie: Night at the Museum
Michaela has the movie on DVD (or Blu-ray) for us to use that evening.
· Brainstorm a fall Family Craft Night Theme
· Suggestions for Fall: Star Wars, Minions (Going Bananas!), OG Descendants, Bills/Sabres/Tailgate Theme, Pokemon
· Sept: Glow party? Glow Splatter Painting? This is a tentative event depending on scheduling in September.
· Oct: Going Bananas! (Minions & Monsters is the new movie – so we can incorporate minions and monsters/Halloween!
· Nov: Touchdowns & Slapshots (Bills & Sabres tailgate party)
· HOMEWORK: Come up with one activity that’s NOT a craft – could be cooking, game, etc! And at least ONE themed snack idea!
2. Workshops & Social Planning for the Year
· May/June – Face Painting & Balloon Animals for Newbies; Murder Mystery
· July/Aug – Old Navy ON the Job Training, First Responder Event, Movie Madness @ PoolTalked about amusement park backup, but everything has a chaperone policy. Summer Picnic/Pool Party will be back up place if we cannot do Movie madness.
· Sept/Oct – Strong Museum
We will have to stay in groups with a staff member! Ages 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult while in the museum.
Preference Choice: Friday evening - $12.50 per person (possibly $17 if we add butterfly)Meet at Alexander at 3:00 pm (Volunteers can grab a slice of pizza
Strong Museum 4:30 – 8:00 pm Return to Alexander 9:30 pm

Babysitting Red Cross Certification We will schedule this with Sam for a Saturday at Alexander. Everyone voted and decided they’d like the Babysitting Certification WITH CPR Certification. The class is approximately 5-6 hours and costs approximately $42 per person.
Future Ideas: Hidden Valley Animal Social (back up for Strong - $32 pp) & police station tour workshop for fall/winter for volunteers.
3. Murder Mystery Feedback
· Everyone had fun! Mocktails were a hit and everyone got so dressed up and into their character.
· Only negative feedback was that some of the “main” characters weren’t interactive enough and it was tough to get clues to solve the case
· They would like to do it again in the future!
4. Summer Library Themes
· Good to GLOW
· To Crafting & Beyond
HOMEWORK: Come up with one activity/craft for at least one of the summer library themes.
5. Open to Discussion
· Three NEW activities are being offered this summer
· German Fest (Crafts & face painting)
· Southline Little League Summer Picnic (face painting & balloon animals)
· Coming Soon: Clean Up/Flag Placing @ Mount Calvery Cemetery
