Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Mon April 20, 2026 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Attendance: Present: Giada D, Gigi, Ella G, Maddy P, Cole, Maddie R, Audri Staff: Alicia, Jessie Excused: Michaela (band) Orientation Leaders & Bottle Returns

1.      Homework Review

·         Summer Event Theme: WILD About Summer

·         HOMEWORK Review: Ideas for activities for summer

·         Binoculars/kaleidoscopes, rain sticks, bird houses, beaded animals, tie dye bucket hats, hydro dipping sunglasses, rubber ducks. Frozen eggs with rubber snakes. Scavenger Hunt with mini animals. Sensory table.

·         HOMEWORK Review: Movie suggestion for Movie Madness Social.  Ideas: Austin Powers, Grease, Mamma Mia, Mean Girls, Mario Movie, Hoppers. Send a vote in Remind? Homework: Brainstorm at least ONE G, PG, or PG-13 Movie (approx. 1.5 hrs in length)

2.      New Photos from AB

·         If AB members would like to take photos, you can do so at events. Please remember to respect anyone who cannot/does not want to be photographed and no photos at nursing homes.

3.      Other Summer social ideas

·         Dingens Movie Madness is booked - Fri July 17 – 8:30 – 10:30 pm. Pizza will be served!

4.      Summer Special Events

·         No concerts this summer. May potentially have one or two concerts.

·         Roller Skate party for the public at the Rec Center. YES will provide face painting, balloon animals and GLOW bingo

·         HOMEWORK for MAY Meeting: Brainstorm a fall Family Craft Night Theme

·         In the past we have done Harry Potter, Super Mario, K-Pop Demon Hunters, Camping, Drive In Movies, Pizza, Pie, Wicked/Witches

·         Some suggestions during meeting were Bills, Sabres, ocean, western 

 

5.      Workshops & Social Planning for the Year

·         May/June – Face Painting & Balloon Animals for Newbies; Murder Mystery

·         July/Aug – Old Navy ON the Job Training, First Responder Event, Movie Madness @ Pool

·         Sept/Oct – Strong Museum Note: We will have to stay in groups with a staff member! Their website says “Children age 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult while in the museum.” The majority of our volunteers are under 15. Preference Choice:  Friday evening - $12.50 per person Meet at Alexander at 3:00 pm Strong Museum 4:30 – 8:00 pm Return to Alexander 9:30 pm Saturday Afternoon/School Holiday - $21 per person (potentially more for Butterfly) Meet at Alexander at 9:30 am Strong Museum 11:00 am – 3:30 pm Return to Alexander 5:00 pm Babysitting Red Cross Certification  We have a staff person who has this cert and can teach the babysitting class. Everyone would get a certification at the end of the class!Would you prefer it with CPR or without? RedCross Babysitter Cert - $19 per person; approx 2.5 – 3 hrs

RedCross Babysitter Cert & CPR Cert - $42 per person; approx 5 - 6 hrs

·         Nov/Dec – Food Making class? Pretzel making? Canalside Ice Skating, Lasertag Skip workshop for Nov/Dec

2027 Socials: Splash Lagoon, Rainbow Rink

2027 Workshops: CPR, Self Defense, Life Skills (checks, 401k, taxes, etc)

6.      Murder Mystery Planning

·         We can schedule a time for AB to help make props for the event

·         Food/Drinks Pulled Pork Sliders, Cowboy Caviar/Salsa, Nacho Station, Hot Dogs/Veggie Dogs, Bloomin Onion Root Beer Mocktails – Shirley Temples Drinks served in boot cups that volunteers can take home

·         Décor Saloon Background Cutouts Horse balloon Photo Props Boot Mugs Cactus inflatables Bandanna Table Cloths Wooden Saloon Doors

·         Activities Cards/Poker Game
