AB Minutes - May 12, 2025

Advisory Board Meeting Minutes May 12, 2025   6:00 – 8:00 pm

Present Board Members: Cole D, Giada D, Audri M, Maddie R, Maddy P Staff: Alicia, Selena

1.      New Volunteer Orientation – Maddy P will be presenting

While Alicia & Maddy P are leading orientation, Selena and other board members will be returning empty bottles/cans from Alexander and ice rink.

2.      Team Building Activity

3.      Review Homework: Activities to do with residents at Glenwell Our first week at Glenwell was canceled due to resident illness. Ideas may change once we’ve attended activities, but board came up with lots of ideas.

a.      Craft/Art projects: Painting Rocks, Watercolor, Art text page, Bracelets

b.      Games: Bingo

c.      Holiday Events: Egg Hunt, Egg Coloring,

d.      Other: Talent Show (singing, instruments, poetry, etc), Karaoke Night, Story Time, Question Cards, Photo Book/Frame, Memory Board

4.      Review Homework: Face painting & balloon animals idea

a.      Reviewed suggestions for new face paint designs

b.      AB wants unicorn removed but we will practice at workshop!

c.      We will bring sheets to practice new designs at workshop – Pikacho, octopus, Hello Kitty, Micky, Roblox, Stitch?

d.      New “full” face designs – Bluey/Bingo, Bunny Face, Cat Face, Shark, Spiderman, fox, ninja turtle, princess

e.      New additional paints & brushes have been ordered for full designs

f.        Workshop attendees will vote on which designs will be added/removed

g.       New balloon animals: turtle/ladybug

h.      We also purchased “balloon rings” to make it easier to tie balloons

5.      HOMEWORK: Brainstorm at least two themes for the fall Preschool & Family Craft Nights.  These can be incorporated into the food classes that we also talked about at a previous meeting.  For inspiration, here’s some of the themes we’ve done in the past: In My Football Era (combo Bills & Taylor Swift activities), Super September (Super Mario themed), Orange You Glad it’s October, Wizards Witches & Wonder (Harry Potter themed)

6.      Grace Guest House    

a.      We brainstormed dinner ideas

  i.      May: Italian – homemade sauce, homemade meatballs, caprese salad, garlic bread, cookies

      ii.      June: Sushi Night – Putting our newly learned skill to use! Fresh spring rolls, crab & veggie sushi, sauce, etc.

       iii.      July: Taco in a Bag, fresh salsa, corn salsa, guac, dessert

      iv.      August: Pizza & maybe a breakfast pizza too that they can cook for breakfast the next morning

7.      Open to Discussion

HOMEWORK: Brainstorm ideas for recycling barrel. Please send ideas to the group chat by June 1 so we can make sure we have supplies for the next meeting on June 16. We can decorate the barrels and deliver to the pools.

  We can buy spray paints, make stencils, etc.

Sun June 1 - 1:00 - 2:15 pm Intergenerational Day @ Peregrine Assisted Living We'll be planting flowers with the residents. Fri June 27 - 4:00 - 7:00 pm Touch a Truck @ Southline Fire Company We'll be doing face painting and balloon animals.

Next Meeting: Monday, June 16 - 6:00 – 8:00 pm Giada will be assisting with orientation.
