AB Minutes - April 7, 2025

Advisory Board Meeting Minutes April 7, 2025     6:00 – 8:00 pm

Attendance – Board Members: Cole D, Giada D, Audri M, Maddie R, Maddy P Staff: Alicia, Selena

1.      New Volunteer Orientation

a.      Maddie R was the facilitator

b.      Selena & AB Members returned empty bottles Earned $6.80 toward Y.E.S. Scholarship Fund Tim confirmed that we can place recycling bins at the pools for the summer

2.      Team Building Activity

3.      Review Homework: Cooking/Baking Activity for fall to incorporate with craft nights Audri – Cupcakes with different color fondant, use cookie cutters to make different shapes with Possible Halloween theme; Cutout cookies and use edible markers/paints to decorate; DIY Cat & Dog Treats; Mini Pies

Maddy P – DIY Cresent roll pizza rolls

Giada – Chocolate Chip Cookies (Maybe we can make dough and kids can customize what toppings going in their dough? Choc Chips, White Choc Chips, M&Ms, etc)

Maddie R – Cake Pops

Cole – Lo Mein, Veggie Rolls, Sushi, Bird Feeders with food

Other ideas: pasta bar, cheese wontons, fondue (choc or cheese), snow cones, strawberry shortcake, DIY salt & pepper shakers, ice cream sundae bar

4.      New Activities Update

a.      Visited Kaleidoscope of WNY, Elderwood, Garden Gate & sent letters to Fantastic Friends, Tri-Community Pantry (they were closed when we visited)

b.      Glenwell DePaul is booked twice a month!

      HOMEWORK: Brainstorm activities to do with residents at Glenwell

Some ideas during meeting: Deal or No Deal and Coloring Book Night (Maybe Coffee & Coloring?)

c.      Suggested promoting programs in additional places

               i.      Flyers & Posters at schools

               ii.      Want to launch YES instagram and tiktok (need to look into possibilities of this and confirm access)

5.      Face Painting Sheet Update

a.      Remove: Unicorn (or make an easier version)

b.      Add: Simple full face designs, popsicle, beach ball, sports equipment/balls

c.      We purchased balloon tying tools to help save our fingers during busy events!

d.      Current face painting sheet & simple face designs below. If you have any ideas, feel free to bring to next meeting or post in group chat

6.      Preschool/Family Craft Nights

a.      For fall, we will be incorporating cooking/food crafts to switch activities up instead of just crafts

b.      Plans for Crafting Through the Decades Craft Night

i.      1960s – ceramic troll painting

ii.      1970s – tie dye pillow cases, pet rock painting

iii.      1980s – slap bracelets

iv.      1990s – fortune teller, perler beads

v.      2000s – Candy bracelets, flower bracelets with pony beads

c.      Adding stations and more things for volunteers to do because parents help the kids so much with the crafts/activities.

7.      Grace Guest House    

a.      Easter Break: Tues Apr 15 – 1:30 – 6:30 pm (this is a tentative end time. AB will call for rides when we’re on our way back)

b.      Meet at Alexander - Bring a hat (and signed waiver - Maddie & Maddy) This is an AB -only event

c.      After making homemade pierogi and dinner for the guests, we will go to dinner.

8.      Open to Discussion

Last Minute Activity – Tues Apr 22, 5:45-7:15 pm – Clevehill Babysitting YES Social Media – Instagram & TikTok We will discuss possibility of this. More to come.
